One of our founders sits down to talk about all things smudging. Many people turn to smuding to help them evict spirits that have taken up residency in their homes. Here, you will learn about the many other reasons you can use smuding to your benefit as well as the difference in smudge sticks and how to properly use them.
Our founder, Shana Leilani, was invited to speak on Wizard Talk Radio in early July. Follow the link below to listen to Host Jason D McKean and Shana talk about the LA ParaDolls, paranormal equipment and haunted hot spots around Los Angeles.

Reincarnation vs Ancestral Memories
I have always believed in reincarnation, never finding a reason to question it. Besides my own experiences with past life memories, I have come across many people of all ages that claim to have one or more memories, sensations or flash backs linking them with the person they may have been many years ago. Recently, I have started to take a class on British Traditional Witchcraft taught by the very wonderful Griffin at *The Green Man Store in North Hollywood. During the first class I brought up a question that made a reference to past and future lives. That is when Griffin presented me with his views and beliefs on Ancestral Memories. In short, he told me that he believes instead of reincarnation, the memories we are picking up are not of past lives that we ourselves have lived, but rather glimpses of the lives our ancestors have lived and they are sending us these memories in a time in our life that we need to understand and grasp the message from said memory as it pertains to what we are going through in the here and now. This really got me thinking...a lot...I'm pretty sure this has got my brain hurting. Now I'm turning to you guys for your own opinions of the idea of reincarnation. But first, let's dive a little deeper.
Let's just briefly touch on some basics here. Reincarnation is the concept that after a psychical death the soul/spirit can be reborn into a new life in a new body. This belief is both philosophical and in some cases seen in modern and ancient religions. The exact origins of this idea seem to be a bit blurred to me. The earliest reports seem to come from India, Greece and Celtic Druids. Some eastern religions have taken this theory and tied in the thought of karma, that in each life time we start working off the karma incurred from the previous. Some people believe that a few of the people they encounter in this lifetime are people they have also known in a life before this one. I have met folks that claim to know an old lover, family member or even someone they have killed in a different lifetime.
Past life memories have been reported to come to people in dreams, from triggers such as foods, places and often discovered by being placed in a hypnotic trance where these memories can even be used a therapeutic setting. I was fortunate enough to have a conversation with hypnotherapist *Cindy Lee, who has conducted her fair share of past life regressions, on her views of reincarnation in relation to past life regressions in her practice. While she does firmly believe in reincarnation, she said that she believes that about 90% of the memories we receive are actually our ego and it's need to channel an archetype. A comment she made has truly stuck out in my head, being both intriguing and funny, "Everyone thinks they're Cleopatra. I mean, how many shreds has that woman torn her soul into?" However, since she uses these memories, authentic or ego, in a therapy setting they are none the less effective in helping over come and treat certain blocks or needs of empowerment that people may be dealing with.
It is not uncommon for children to have crystal clear memories of who they were in the past. There's even a nifty television show about children with these experiences called, The Ghost Inside My Child. Most times parents can shrug off this phenomena by complimenting their children with having very active imaginations. In some cases, with enough research and a bit of luck, a few memories from these children have been confirmed as actual events in history.
Now, to tie in and counter all of the above with Ancestral Memory...Ancestral Memory, in short, is the memories of our ancestors. Maybe it's Grandpa thinking back to when he was a child getting his first bicycle, or someone more primitive coming back home from a hunt to feed his family. These memories are a part of us as well. They flow through our blood, our cells and our spirit.
Let's put aside the idea of reincarnation for a moment and replace what we may or may not believe to be memories of past lives and ponder the idea of these being memories of our family members that have come before us....Go ahead, I'll wait here...
If your anything like me this has brought up questions. I am lucky enough to have had a chance to further ask Griffin questions about this theory and let me tell you, he has not disappointed. I first brought up the fact that children have come into this life with memories of their previous ones. In reply I was reminded about how psychically and spiritually open children are in comparison to adults. Kids have a much larger range of reception to these things and therefore, can make excellent spirit radios. Our ancestors do not have to work as hard to communicate and relay messages and memories to them. Sometimes, the memory may have no point, just something that was kind of floating around that the child may have picked up on, maybe an ancestor trying to find acknowledgement of something they when through and are hoping to find closure by sharing, other times it could be a message for the child to bare in mind later on in life or perhaps be something they willing hopefully bring to their parents attention.
As an adult, they have to work much harder to get through to us, but with some determination they can still get us to open our third eyes wide enough to *see* what they are trying to share. The memories that are being presented to us are something we should really pay attention to because it is something that could help us in regards to a situation we are going through. It is our ancestor's way of guiding and helping us. This is also true for past life regressions. When we are placed into a hypnotic trace, it is easy for us, psychic or not, to access different levels of consciousness that will allow our ancestors to relay their memories to us this way as well. As I have already covered, what our findings are from this state may be applied as a type of therapy. We can easily say that this is another way for our ancestors to guide and help us by relating their own experiences to what we are going through in pour own lifetime.
I would like everyone to consider all angles of this. I am not asking anyone to change their mind on what they believe to be real in regards to this topic, just simply consider everything. I can say that this has opened my eyes up, and has swayed me to believe a bit of both sides. Please share with me in the comments what you think on this, whether it be one, both or maybe something completely different. I guess in the end, we can ponder this our entire life but will only know the truth when this journey has come to an end and we are preparing for what comes next.

In the month of October a few of the ParaDolls were lucky enough to visit New Orleans and check out the famously haunted city. While there some of the team stumbled upon a restaurant in Jackson Square that goes by the name of Muriel's Jackson Square. The restaurant offers a wonderful menu as well as an amazing atmosphere...and like many places in New Orleans, it also offered a dark history and resident spirit.
Our story starts with a man named Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan. Jourdan bought and restored a building to it's original Spanish style architecture and decided to call it home for him and his family. This building was Jourdan's pride and joy, his beloved home. However, the weight of a gambling addiction outweighs the love of your home in Jourdan's case. Jourdan spent his free time gambling away his money and possessions, knowing that Lady Luck would smile upon him eventually. One fateful night in 1814, Jourdan sat down to a poker game, penniless, knowing that if he put his house on the table he would win. He had to. But alas, Lady Luck must got have not gotten the memo and Jourdan quickly lost his home in that last game.
His opponent was gracious enough to give Jourdan a few weeks to pack up his home and clear out. But Jourdan couldn't do it. Instead of facing the fact that his beautiful home was no longer his, he went upstairs to the slave quarters and ended his life.
Today, the building now plays host to the restaurant Muriel's Jackson Square. Upon opening, management would come in to find broken glassed and plates and maybe a flipped table or two. Suspecting that Jourdan may still reside in his home and may not be too keen on sharing, they decided to try and make him feel welcome. They set up a table, adorned with a table cloth, silverware, plates, napkins and a sign dedicating this table to Jourdan at the side entrance of the building, specially for Jourdan and ghostly guests. Each day the staff make sure to place fresh wine and bread at the table. Reports of disruption have lessened since that table was dedicated to the resident ghost, but the activity has by no means stopped. Voices and knocks can occasionally be heard as well as the rare occurrence of a glass smashing against the wall at the Courtyard Bar. Jourdan is said to still linger, either sitting at his table or upstairs in the slave quarters which are now called The Seance Room. He is said not to appear in human form, but rather as an orb or glimmer of light. There is speculation of other spirits roaming the halls of the building including former slaves and a woman who's voice has been caught on audio recordings.
After enjoying breakfast at the restaurant last month, one of our team members,Shana, was at Jourdan's table with a cluster of other patrons, all hoping to get a glance of the famous spirit. Sensing that there was indeed a spirit among them, Shana asked Jourdan to show himself or give her a sign that he was there. Shortly afterwards, a woman gasped while reviewing the pictures she had just taken. She caught a strange white light in the picture (picture shown below.) Unfortunately, we were not able to get her to send of the picture, but she was nice enough to let us take a picture of her phone displaying the image.
If you happen to find yourself in New Orleans, stop by and enjoy a drink or a meal and ask the staff to show you The Seance Room and Jourdan's table. For more information about Muriel's please visit their website at
